The Power of Song/Songs for Peace
We all love to sing because it makes us feel good! It lifts our spirits, lowers our stress level, speaks to our hearts in ways mere words cannot. Singing allows us to share our emotions, tell our stories and build community. When we sing, we breathe deeply! As the Chinese proverb says, “Life is in the breath. He who half breathes, half lives.” This workshop explores the idea that everyone is a singer and that the power of song can help to transform and heal ourselves and our communities. And by delving into the fun and spiritual nature of singing we simply find access to more joy in our everyday lives. The Pacha Mamas will share the songs we use in concerts to involve our audiences in singing as well as teach relatively simple songs/rounds that can be sung as individuals or in community groups. Many of our themes affirm/celebrate peace, unity, diversity and connection.
A Red Tent: Awakening the Goddess
As we awaken to the Goddess (or the feminine aspects of the Divine) and to our relationship with Mother Earth, we step more fully into our true feminine power, facilitating transformation and healing in our personal lives and in the world. There are many rituals and activities that we use to acknowledge, affirm, strengthen and celebrate those things that are part of our feminine nature. In this time together, we will create a sacred space as women, incorporating guided meditation, singing/chanting, journaling, poetry, myth, movement, collaging, improvisation, traditional goddess/nature based ritual among other activities. We can create and facilitate workshops, in addition to day long and weekend long retreats around this material depending on the specific situation/need.
Diversity in Motion
The Pacha Mamas move participants at the level of heart and soul by performing personal stories and songs that highlight the value of diversity and that bring awareness to the barriers that are created by habitual belief systems comprised of judgement and assumption. Through this experience, additional tools for connecting with understanding, respect, joy and compassion are gained. This program encourages participation through facilitated dialogue as well as times for reflection and writing. In addition, it has been tailored to fit various circumstances and settings, including different age groups from children to adults.
